โ€œWould you choose one perfect day over a lifetime of ordinary ones?โ€ This Time Tomorrow is a warm, witty, and emotionally resonant novel about family, regret, and the longing to revisit the past. When Alice wakes up on her 40th birthday reliving her 16th year, she gets a rare chance to see her fatherโ€”and her lifeโ€”through new eyes. Emma Straub blends time-travel charm with heartfelt insight in a story thatโ€™s both nostalgic and deeply moving.

This is one of those instances where a book is brought up in a "So what have you read lately?" conversations turned into one of may favorite books of all time. There are many books where you get to follow the are of someone's life story. How they grow and change based on the events over there lifetime. But how would someone grow and change over many lifetimes? Have full knowledge of your previous lives? I was fascinated. Oh and of course there is saving the future of humanity, but to me that was the secondary story!

This was a wonderful book series. We Are Legion (We Are Bob) is a smart, fast-paced sci-fi adventure that blends humor, heart, and big ideas about humanityโ€™s future. After the main character's mind is uploaded into a self-replicating space probe, he finds himself exploring the galaxy while competing with rival AIs and fulfilling humanityโ€™s last hopes. The story balances hard science concepts with witty dialogue and an engaging, relatable main character. Itโ€™s a highly entertaining start to the Bobiverse series thatโ€™s both thought-provoking and a lot of fun to read.

This love story might follow a familiar arc, but Chuck Tingleโ€™s trademark blend of surreal humor, emotional sincerity, and dimension-hopping absurdity makes it feel like everything is on the table. Think: multiverse mayhem, philosophical side quests, and a romance that stays sweet even when the universe goes sideways. Perfect for fans of weird fiction who still believe in love.

First contact with aliens has never felt this tenseโ€”or this unforgettable. A human starship meets the enigmatic โ€œMoties,โ€ a brilliant species with one very big problem they canโ€™t solve. What starts as awe quickly twists into paranoia, diplomacy, and a battle of wits across the stars. Itโ€™s classic space opera at its sharpest, packed with big ideas and edge-of-your-seat suspense.

When all technology suddenly fails, the Pacific Northwest becomes the front line of survival. From Portland to the Willamette Valley, communities rebuild with swords, bows, and grit. Part post-apocalyptic thriller, part medieval adventure, itโ€™s raw, imaginative, and rooted in our own backyard. A must-read for anyone who loves survival tales with a local twist.

This is my favorite Stephen King book, probably because itโ€™s outside his usual horror wheelhouse. I love time travel and alternative history stories, and this one checks all the boxes. When you combine that with the mystery and conspiracies surrounding the JFK assassination, you get a story thatโ€™s absolutely ripe with intrigue.

In Earthโ€™s far, dying future, humanity clings to survival in a crumbling jungle city. Our narratorโ€”equal parts prisoner, scholar, and smart-mouthed survivorโ€”recounts a tale of corruption, monsters, and the slow death of a world. Tchaikovsky blends dark humor with bleak beauty, building a story that feels both epic and intimate. Itโ€™s grim, strange, and unforgettableโ€”like Dune told from the gallows.

John Constantine meets John Wick in this wild, mind-bending ride through alternate realities. A man haunted by violence and loss stumbles into a world where every choice branches into new, dangerous possibilities. Itโ€™s brutal, stylish, and strange in the best wayโ€”full of shattered identities and philosophical punch. Come for the action, stay for the weirdness only Miรฉville (and Keanu!) could dream up.

A government experiment goes horribly wrong, unleashing creatures that make vampires look like house pets. As civilization collapses, one extraordinary child may hold the key to humanityโ€™s survival. Itโ€™s part apocalyptic thriller, part survival saga, and entirely unputdownable. Dark, sprawling, and hauntingโ€”this is the start of a trilogy that will keep you up way past midnight.

The apocalypse is comingโ€ฆ but the angel and demon in charge would really rather it didnโ€™t. So instead of ending the world, they team up for a comedy of errors involving misplaced Antichrists, witch prophecies, and way too many flaming swords. Itโ€™s clever, chaotic, and laugh-out-loud funny, with just enough heart to make you care who saves the world. Think Monty Python meets The Book of Revelation.

When a vast alien starship drifts into our solar system, a team of explorers is sent to uncover its secrets. Inside waits a silent, mysterious worldโ€”immense, beautiful, and utterly alien. Clarke writes with awe and precision, pulling you into one of science fictionโ€™s most iconic mysteries. It may be an oldie, but it still delivers that sense of wonder that defines classic sci-fi.

A Jesuit priest and a small crew travel to a newly discovered world, searching for connection among the stars. What they encounter is wondrous, brutal, and unlike anything they imagined. Russellโ€™s novel blends first-contact sci-fi with a story of faith, love, and devastating loss. Itโ€™s the kind of book that leaves you quiet when you finishโ€”because youโ€™re still thinking about it days later.

In Hollow Kingdom, Kira Jane Buxton delivers a wildly original post-apocalyptic adventure told through the eyes of a foul-mouthed domesticated crow navigating the collapse of humanity. Funny, bizarre, and surprisingly moving, this novel blends sharp satire with genuine heartโ€”and offers a fresh perspective on what remains when humans disappear.

Reading Sea of Tranquility felt like a meditationโ€”calming and immersive, it pulled me in and made me feel at ease, almost as if I were returning home. While the book incorporates science fiction elements like time travel, they serve more as a backdrop to the true focus: an exploration of humanity. As someone who usually prefers hard sci-fi, I was pleasantly surprised by how deeply this story resonated with me, balancing its speculative elements with a thoughtful and intimate reflection on what it means to be human.

Mary Shelley is most famous for Frankenstein. However, The Last Manโ€”reviled in her time, which isnโ€™t surprising given how it challenges aristocracy and social normsโ€”resonates strongly today. That feels fitting, since the novel is set between 2073 and 2100, despite being written in 1826. In recent years, apocalyptic and post-apocalyptic fiction has become especially popular, and Shelleyโ€™s work feels strikingly relevant within that trend. The beauty and elegance of her prose add a deep melancholy to the storyโ€™s vision of humanityโ€™s end. It reads like a hauntingly beautiful obituary for mankind. I absolutely love this book.My brain literally tingled as I listened to the audiobook. Highly recommend.
