How Book Clubs Work
Book Clubs make it easy to organize group reading and keep your discussions in one place. Customers can create their own club, invite others with a shareable link, and schedule discussions around a selected book.
Create a Book Club
Signed-in customers can create a new Book Club from the My Book Clubs area. When you create a club, you can add:
- A unique book club name
- A description for your club
- A cover image if you want one
- A visibility setting
Public vs. Private Book Clubs
Book Clubs can be set to either Public or Private.
- Public Book Clubs can be discovered by other customers on the website.
- Private Book Clubs are only available through the private club link shared by the club owner.
Private Book Clubs are the default setting when a new club is created.
Manage Your Club
The customer who creates the club becomes the club owner. Club owners can:
- Edit the club name, description, cover image, and visibility
- Copy or regenerate the private club link
- Create, edit, and delete Club Discussions
- Attach a book to each discussion
Club Discussions
Each Book Club can include one or more Club Discussions. A discussion can include:
- A discussion title
- Date and time
- Location for the meeting or virtual link
- Optional notes or details
- An official book selection
Discussions appear on the Book Club page so members can quickly see what the group is reading and when the next meeting is scheduled.
Choosing a Book
When creating or editing a Club Discussion, the club owner can attach a book as the official read. You can search for the book directly in the discussion editor and select it from the search results.
Once a book is attached, the discussion detail page will display the book cover, title, author, and buying options.
Buying the Book
If a discussion has an attached book, customers can use the discussion page to view or purchase that title through the website. If audiobook links are available, customers can also use the audiobook button from the discussion page.
Sharing a Private Club
For Private Book Clubs, the owner can copy the private link from the manage page and share it directly with members. Anyone with that private link can open the club and its discussion pages.
If needed, the owner can regenerate the private link. Regenerating the link disables the previous private link.
Important Notes
- Book Club names must be unique.
- Only the club owner can edit the club and its discussions.
- Cover images are optional.
- Private clubs do not appear in public Book Club listings.
