Everyone's favorite lethal SecUnit is back in the next installment of Martha Wells' bestselling and award-winning Murderbot Diaries series.

Having someone else support your bad decision feels kind of good.

After volunteering to run a rescue mission, Murderbot realizes that it will have to spend significant time with a bunch of humans it doesn't know.

Including human children. Ugh.

This may well call for... eye contact!

Poor Murderbot is on the roadtrip from hell.

After rescuing three of Mensah's humans (Naja, Farai and Sofi), Murderbot has found themself roped into rescuing even more (non-Mensah-related) humans located on the other side of a massive, habitable torus encircling a mined-out planet. A torus divided into a bunch of corporate zones constantly fighting one another. All while dragging along a bunch of humans. Including human children.

The whole trip is an absolute nightmare for Murderbot: constant threats, humans who are bad at security, weird emotions, and, worst of all, almost no time to watch media.

And the newly installed mental health module constantly checking their emotional state really isn't helping.

I love Murderbot. I could read a thousand Murderbot novellas and never get tired of their adventures. Platform Decay takes Murderbot and puts them in a particularly familiar human hell: the road trip. Especially a road trip with children. I love that Murderbot is aware their emotions now to know they need that Emotion Check module - even if they might not always listen. 10/10 for Murderbot - I can't wait for the next adventure!
